Sr. Software Tester/Data Quality Analyst, BSA/AML Compliance

Onward Search has an exciting opportunity with one of our clients in the FinTech space!
We are seeking a Senior Software Tester and Data Quality Analyst to play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and compliance of software development for BSA/AML (Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering) models and controls. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for conducting both automated and manual tests, collaborating closely with development teams, and maintaining data quality monitoring to support regulatory compliance.


Software Testing:

  • Collaborate with developers to design and execute a variety of tests, including unit, smoke, end-to-end, and regression testing, primarily using SQL and Python.
  • Develop functional and non-functional test cases to mitigate risk.
  • Perform stress testing, performance testing, functional testing, and scalability testing.
  • Plan and execute integration and regression testing.
  • Monitor applications and software systems post-deployment, identifying and documenting defects, and proposing solutions.
  • Write comprehensive bug/defect reports and analysis documentation.
  • Work diligently to meet departmental and project deadlines.
  • Provide valuable, objective feedback to software development project teams.
  • Collaborate with project teams across different geographical locations.

Data Quality Monitoring:

  • Build and document data quality testing and monitoring scenarios, including summary statistics, source-to-target testing, and correlation analysis.
  • Proactively monitor, measure, analyze, execute, track, and report on data quality issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis of identified data quality issues, tracing data upstream and providing solutions.
  • Collaborate with data governance and data science resources to analyze, establish, and document data flows, data lifecycles, technical metadata, data lineage, and business definitions.


  • 2-5 years of experience in a software testing and/or data quality analyst role.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related field.
  • Proficiency in building and executing automated regression tests using SQL and/or Python.
  • Exposure to test management applications such as Pytest, Xray, Zephyr, QMetry, and Bitbucket.
  • Strong background in data profiling, root cause analysis, data cleansing, and data manipulation.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills, with the ability to produce clear test artifacts.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with or a keen interest in cryptocurrency.
  • Professional certifications such as CAMS, CFCS, CFE, and CRCM.
  • Recognized data quality certification, such as ISO 8000.
  • Exposure to CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) environments.
  • Prior experience with SQL, Python, Jira, GitHub, and Apache Airflow.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases and pipelines, including Elasticsearch and MongoDB.
